Yours and your family’s safety are vital when dealing with broken glass and during the time before you have your replacement glass fitted it is a good idea to follow the safety precautions below:

1. Clear people and pets away from the area where the glass has been broken and ensure that anyone in the area is wearing protective shoes;
2. Try and clear up as much of the glass as possible. Use a vacuum if possible to avoid touching the glass;
3. If you need to touch the broken glass then make sure you are wearing protective gloves to avoid injury;
4. If the broken glass is in an open or airy area then wear protective glasses to avoid getting small flying pieces of glass in your eyes;
5. If the glassfell from a height do not stand underneath the area as there might still be glass that could fall;
6. And lastly, if your door or window glass has a crack (but has not shattered or fallen) then carefully stick masking tape across it to strengthen it until you can get your replacement glass installed.
